A Word About Our Founder

For John Barcelona, president of Chestnut Homes, it’s never been about just selling homes or office condominiums. On the residential side of our business, John has always focused on carefully constructing homes, brimming with amenities, on unique pieces of property. The focus is on creating an environment that families will love calling home.

John says, “I travel all over the Chicago area, looking for land with something extra: stands of trees, scenic water views, open space or rolling terrain. I look for outstanding locations, near transportation, close to parks and recreational areas.”

Since the 1980s, John has been helping bring buyers together with their dream homes. He began his career as an attorney representing builders and buyers. In 1987, John formed The Woodhill Corporation with two partners.

Several thousand happy homes later, John Barcelona achieved his lifelong dream of building and developing his own communities when, in 1996, he created Chestnut Homes, Inc.

The same integration of location, design, and construction efficiency is seen in the office condominium and commercial build-out projects that the company has undertaken in the Chicago suburbs. The company has expertise in land acquisition, entitlement and development. It provides consulting and construction management services for companies in both the residential and commercial sectors.
